Structures (QSB 1523) (Semester 7)

The lecturer for this subject is Mr Chai Voon Chiet. Total credit hours is 4. The assessment plan is divided into four components, which are Mid-Term test, Individual Assignment, Final Examination and TGC Portfolio. Each component except TGC Portfolio sums up assessment weightage to 100%.

For Mid-Term test, it covered all the topics that we have studied for the first 7 weeks. Basically the questions are about resolving all internal and external forces and method of joints. For individual assignment, each of the student has to resolve a question given into a graphical method. For Final Examination, basically it covers all the chapters that we have studied for the whole 14 weeks in this semester.

At the end of this semester, I am able to identify and resolve all the internal and external forces. Also, I am able to explain the action of structural elements and complete systems. Furthermore, I can interpret the application of the total integration of structural functions and actions with the overall design objectives. I am able to plan all aspects of design, in collaboration with structural engineers, in order to realize their design concepts.

Overall, it gives me a good exposure to understand the perspective view of a civil engineers.
