The lecturer for this subject is Sr Loo Seong King. Total credit hours is 4. The assessment plan is divided into four components that are Mid-Term Test, Group Assignment, Final Exam and TGC Portfolio. Each component except TGC Portfolio sums up assessment weightage to 100%.
For Mid-Term Test, the questions are based on topics fro Week 1 to 6. For Group Assignment, students in groups (Maximum 8 members) are required to prepare a case study of Value Management application in the Construction Industry .The main aim of this group assignment is to help students develop a deeper appreciation of the concepts learnt in this module by applying them in the assignment. Submission format: Research on the case study of the relevant topic in both hard copy and soft copy shall be in presentation slides. Any submission and uploads after the fixed time is considered late and penalty will be applied. The students are expected to explore outcome of the implication for case study in Malaysia Construction Industry both in public and private sectors. For Final Examination, it is designed to assess the ability of the students to create awareness and
understanding of the principles, history, application and technical issues related to Cost Value Engineering in the Construction Industry .These mainly consist of subjective questions as well as practical problems questions (where recall, analysis, evaluation and application of concepts learnt are necessary to answer the questions completely).
At the end of the semester, I am able to understand Value Management methodologies and approaches. Also, I can apply Value Management approaches to a project to identify unnecessary cost and function of each element in a project.
