Development Economics (QSB 4223) (Semester 6)

The lecturers for this subject are Dianne Kok and Ho June Khai. Total credit hours is 3.The assessment plan is divided into four components that are Mid-Term Test, Group Assignment, Final Examination and TGC Portfolio. Each component except TGC Portfolio sums up assessment weightage to 100%.

For Mid-Term Test, the test consists of subjective questions as well as practical problem questions (where recall, analysis, evaluation and application of concepts learnt are necessary to answer the questions competently. For Group Assignment, the main aim of this group assignment is to help students develop a deeper appreciation of the concepts learnt in the module by applying them in the problems given in the assignment. For Final Examination, these mainly consist of subjective questions as well as practical problem questions (where recall, analysis, evaluation and application of concepts learnt are necessary to answer the questions competently).

At the end of the semester, I am able to calculate developer's budget during the initial development process, execute the Cost-benefit Analysis in the early stage of investment proposal and valuation system to help on decision making during the feasibility stage and classify various source of finance available in the construction industry and to outline the requirement in a quality market research. Overall, it gives a good exposure for me to understand the perspective view of a developer and viability of a project.
